NPD SPECIALIST - LIQUID BEVERAGE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced NPD specialist to join our dynamic Research and Development team. This is an opportunity to play a crucial role in driving liquid beverage NPDs, providing opportunities for improvement on existing beverage products and processes, troubleshooting technical challenges and providing support for our customers and production team.

This position requires a positive can-do attitude, sound knowledge and expertise in formulations and process of liquid beverage.

The successful candidate will have

  • A Minimum 5 years of experience in food product development within the food and beverage industry, with a focus on beverage innovations.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise of ingredient functionality, beverage formulation and processing techniques on syrups, dessert sauces and fruit drinks.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and launching new food and beverage products from concept to commercialization.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Good understanding of FSANZ, familiarity with food safety regulations and quality assurance standards.
  • Prompt, flexible, and positive approach and can-do attitude.
  • A solution orientated outlook and have the ability to identify opportunities and customer service.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Food Science or related field.
  • Competent computer skills.
  • A great team player.
  • Commercially pragmatic.
  • SAP Experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Export labeling and familiarity with food regulations in Southeast Asia will be highly regarded.

Key responsibilities:

  • Formulating beverage applications in line with project briefs. Products include flavoured sugar syrups, dessert sauces, fruit smoothies, granitas/slushie.
  • Manage all steps of the product development cycle - from brief to scale up and commercialization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize existing product formulations, cost and process.
  • Organize and lead factory trials.
  • Review existing process, utilize your expertise to trouble shoot and resolve any technical challenges that arise during NPD and production.
  • Support production and provide training to operational staff where needed.
  • stay up-to-date with industry trends to identify new ingredients, technologies, and processes that can enhance product quality and performance
  • Prepare all product related documentation like Specifications/PIF’s, artworks, generate product labels, set up and conduct shelf life tests.
  • Support production and engineering with new equipment commissioning.
  • Build effective working relationships with cross functional teams - Operations, sales & marketing, PMs, QA, Procurement.

Quality Assurance Officer

We have great opportunity for an experienced Quality Officer to join a dynamic and exciting a market leading BRC / HACCP level manufacturer. Working with terrific brands and a great team this will be a permanent role based at our Clayton Manufacturing facility.

Our company is going through a significant period of growth and we are looking to employ a highly motivated Quality Officer. You will be pivotal in driving quality & food safety in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.

As a Quality Officer, you will be involved in product inspections, identifying, resolving and reporting any product problems are key elements of the position.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will focus on leading the implementation of quality assurance and systems. You will work in the heart of the business. You will be able to communicate with external stakeholders and at multiple levels within a fast paced and diverse workplace. You will monitor, products and processes, and be heavily in involved in providing QA related support to the Operations team.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Interpret and implement quality assurance standards.
  • Evaluate adequacy of quality assurance standards.
  • Play a key role in audits of food safety and quality systems.
  • Devise and carry out sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data.
  • Review the implementation and efficiency of quality and inspection systems.
  • Plan, conduct and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products
  • Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities as required.
  • Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues.
  • Collect and compile statistical quality data.
  • Analyse data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system.
  • Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities.
  • Coordinate and support on-site audits conducted by external providers as required.
  • Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions as required.
  • Responsible for document management systems.
  • Ensure quality control procedures are achieved
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with quality, legal, company, and industry regulatory requirements relating to food safety.
  • Drive the continuous improvement process for Quality across the site.
  • Complete complaint investigations and manage quality/food safety issues in production including investigation of the root cause of non-conformity of in-coming materials, in-process products and finished products
  • Investigate out of specification results, including packaging, raw materials, finished products or environmental results
  • Participate the internal auditing program
  • Provide onsite support to the QA Manager, Operations team, supply chain and production personnel as required
  • Quality training of staff and production employees
  • Establishing and building relationships with suppliers & customers.
  • Maintenance of approved supplier programs for raw , packaging which included supplier certification, Specs etc
  • Verification of the COA from the supplier
  • Verification of artwork to the standard
  • Raising and following up on supplier non conformance
  • Maintenance of VACCP Plan
  • Supplier review rating
  • internal audits

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in quality, food science or similar.
  • Food industry- experience
  • Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of QA.
  • Quality inspection, auditing and testing experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, within a Food or FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent understanding of HACCP systems and ISO standards.
  • Sound knowledge of all food laws and regulations including audit level experience of HACCP and BRC or other Quality and Food Safety Management Systems.
  • HACCP Training Certification
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage several priorities at one time
  • A demonstrated work history of your achievements in QA;
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word
  • A high attention to detail with exceptional organisational skills
